Im Jahre 1999 umrundeten die Ballonfahrer Piccard und Jones mit dem Original Breitling Orbiter 3 die Welt (nonstop). Beide stellten dabei mehrere Weltrekorde auf und Breitling war maßgeblich an dieser Reise beteiligt.
Zu Ehren dieser Mission wurde nach 20 Jahren die Breitling Cockpit B50 Orbiter vorgestellt und erfreut sich in Sammlerkreisen großer Beliebtheit.
